NATIONAL FORESTRY AUTHORITY LATEST JOB VACANCY IN UGANDA : RECRUITMENT FOR EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR (VACANCIES IN UGANDA 2011)

National Forestry Authority [NFA] was established by the National Forestry and Tree Planting Act, (NFTPA) 3003 to manage thee Central Forestry Reserves and to supply quality forestry-i elated products and services to its stakeholders. NFA also aims at expanding partnership arrangements and lo attain financial sustainability by the forth year of its operations. It employs a workforce of 350 employees, and with a
recurrent budget of about 33 billion shillings. 75% of which is lurked from own revenue collection NFA is looking for a dynamic, hardworking and self driven individual to fill the vacancy of Executive Director.
Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates who satisfy the under listed qualifications, work experience, abilities and personal attributes to fill the above vacancy.
Role: To provide leadership and maximize the Authority's contribution towards its desired growth and profitability targets in line with policies set by the Board.

Key Result Areas
1. Initiate the development and review of policies for the organization's physical, human and financial resources.
2. Monitor the overall Authority's performance and compliance lo financial accounting system in line with government and the Authority's accounting procedures
3. Initiate and pursue the development of the Authority's strategic planning and identify opportunities for its commercial strengthening in line with the Authority's vision
4. Develop advocacy strategies for networking with private sector MGOs, forest adjacent communities, local councils and other stakeholders in the management of forest resources
5. Implement the Performance Contract Agreement between NFA and the government and develop entrepreneur strategies for self financing
6. Initiate the preparation of the annual budge! and operator plans for timely approval by the Board and monitor their implementation in line with the Authority's strategic objectives
7. Develop strategies for enforcing NFA compliance with the relevant legislation, forestry and environmental laws,

government's poverty eradication plans and other relevant policies.

Job requirement

Qualifications, work experience, abilities and personal attributes
• Honours degree in Forestry
• Postgraduate training in relevant field is an added advantage
• At least 10 years of work experience at a senior managerial level in a large Private or Public Sector Organization.
• Proven and thorough knowledge of Finance, Management investment in a complex, dynamic and successful concern
• Excellent communication skills both oral and written
• Ability to initiate and manage change in an organization
• Proven excellent skills in administration, fundraising, and lobbying
• Entrepreneurial competence and output-oriented work - habits
• High level of integrity Resilience and reliability
• Good Interpersonal, team building and organizational skills


Age: at least 40 years old
Remuneration: Negotiable
Tenure of Appointment: The appointment shall be for a period of Three years with effect from the date of assumption of duties and may be renewed once subject to satisfactory performance appraisal
