POSITION SUMMARY
Reporting to the QUISP Program Manager, the Communications Officer shall be responsible for planning and implementing effective communication campaigns in order to increase awareness among the concerned
stakeholders and the general public about the objectives of the QUISP intervention and related activities and milestones so far achieved, and also ensure the timely delivery of information and internal communications to QUISP staff.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Develop and execute a communication plan to include; liaising with the media, creating and managing news releases and monitoring media coverage of QUISP related events. 2. Manage internal communications activities and organize announcements to ensure staff are regularly updated after meetings with all information relevant to their departments 3. Manage the development and maintenance of a staff intranet and or blog in coordination with the Human Resources Manager 4. Manage the content of the QUISP website and other social media outlets 5. Keep the PMU informed of the significant challenges that might hinder already set objectives of the programme. 6. Attend weekly meetings 7. Any other duties assigned by the supervising authority. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
The ideal candidate must possess the following:
* Hold at least a Hon Bachelors degree in Mass Communication, Public relations, Journalism, Marketing, or any other related field * Excellent written and spoken communication skills with ability to work effectively with diverse groups including donors, community partners, service providers, and varied staff. * Excellent organizational and time management skills * Flexibility concerning work schedule to accommodate evening and weekend meetings * Dynamic, ambitious, motivated to conceptualize standards and quality issues in economic development. * 3-5 years experience in Communication or PR management * Specific qualification(s) in project planning and management will be an added advantage.
