at UGANDA ELECTRICITY GENERATION COMPANY LTD in Uganda
UEGCL, a limited liability company incorporated in March 2001 with the Head Office located in Jinja, is one of the UEB successor companies. UEGCL’s key role is to oversee the efficient production of electricity power through power plant development and concession monitoring.
UEGCL seeks to fill the following vacant positions:



Reports to : Environmental Specialist

Duty station : Kampala but most of the time working upcountry

Key Role: : Ensuring UEGCL Hydropower projects are implemented in compliance with environmental laws and standards, with least impact on the environment

Main responsibilities:
• Undertaking environmental baseline studies at planned UEGCL power generating project sites and power evacuation routes;
• Participating in the development and Monitoring the implementation of the Environmental Monitoring and Management Plans
• Participating in the conduct of Environmental impact assessment
• Participating in the conduct of environmental inspections and audits
• Undertaking environmental compliance monitoring of project activities
• Undertaking environmental risk assessments and safety checks.
• Monitoring the implementation of UEGCL environmental restoration and community development projects.

Minimum qualifications and experience
• Bachelors of sciences Degree (majoring in either Botany, Zoology, or Forestry)
• Postgraduate training in Environmental Impact Assessment or above disciplines will be an added advantage.
• Three years relevant experience
• Computer literacy

Other requirements
• Knowledge of the Occupational Safety and Health Act No. 9 of 2006 will be an added advantage.
• Valid driving permit

Age limit: Not above 30 years of age
