Job Description (Duties):

Job Purpose:
A vacancy exists for a finance assistant who will play a key role in reporting the monthly financial results of a national office. The role will require working closely with the head of office and colleagues from other departments, in particular the finance team.
The role holder will be responsible for delivering a financial month end, including entry and reconciliation of financial transactions and comparison with budgets/forecasts. Results are submitted to head office and consolidated into group accounts on a monthly basis.
Duties and Responsibilities:
* Ensuring timely processing of supplier invoices including coding * Ensuring timely processing of income including coding * Ensuring timely processing of employee expenses * Preparing and entering journal entries * Reconciling bank and petty cash * Month end close * Reporting variance analysis to tight deadlines * Preparation of monthly funding request * Updating monthly budgets/forecasts in computerised accounting system * Maintaining computerised accounting system including backing up data Necessary Qualifications:
Educated to CAT/part qualified ACCA standard, and a proven record in a busy accounting environment. The applicant should also have:
* Practical experience of an accounting package, ideally QuickBooks or Sage * Experience of month end close including reconciliations * Experience of budgetary control and variance analysis * Strong communication, customer service and interpersonal skills * Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision * Capable of working on his/her own initiative, with good organizational skills and the ability to work to strict deadlines.
