INTERNATIONAL ALERT LATEST JOB VACANCY IN UGANDA: RECRUITMENT FOR SENIOR PROGRAMME OFFICER (VACANCIES IN UGANDA 2011)

International Alert is recruiting three new programme staff to join its expanding team in Uganda. The positions are:

Senior Programme Officer, Oil
Recruited to contribute to our expanding ‘Harnessing Oil for Peace and Development in Uganda’ project, the Senior Programme Officer will be have a talent for analytical thinking and persuasive communication, balanced with a constructive and highly collegial personal working style. S/he will be play a lead role in Alert’s national-level advocacy activities related to oil; and contribute to a consolidation and deepening of relevant relationships and partnerships across a range of relevant stakeholders. S/he will develop clear advocacy targets for Alert, and follow-up with relevant strategies and activities together with partners. The post holder will pro-actively engage in the growing national and international debate about oil in Uganda, developing and maintaining cutting-edge expertise concerning relevant developments, in order to advance Alert’s goals of coalition-building and promoting peaceful outcomes from oil in Uganda.

The ideal candidate will be educated to Masters level, and have a track record of successful implementation of advocacy work, as well as an excellent grasp of issues related to natural resource management/ oil governance in Uganda. S/he will have some experience of project management, and be able to produce excellent written work. S/he will have an innovative, creative and problem-solving attitude; and a proven ability to develop strong working relationships.
