REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH UGANDA LATEST JOB VACANCIES IN UGANDA: RECRUITMENT FOR ACCOUNTANT (VACANCIES IN UGANDA 2011)

Reproductive health Uganda (RHU), formerly the Family Planning Association of Uganda (FPAU), is a member of the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF), the world’s largest sexual and reproductive health body. It is a not-for-profit and non-discriminatory Non-Governmental Organization (NGO). Its mission is to promote high quality, high impact and gender-sensitive sexual and reproductive health and rights information and services for vulnerable and most at risk population of young people (15 - 30 years) in Uganda through capacity building, specialized service delivery, issue-specific advocacy and strategic
partnerships

RHU is implementing a Learning Center Initiative that focuses on increasing Male involvement in Reproductive Health services supported by, Swedish International Development Agency (Sida).. The Male Involvement Initiative primarily aims to create a mechanism to ensure that good practices and lessons continue to be analyzed, documented, and are actively shared with different stakeholders to improve male involvement in Sexual and Reproductive and Health and Rights (SRHR) programming and advocacy. The initiative will provide opportunity for practical learning, reflection, sharing and integration of the lessons learnt regarding the different male involvement interventions

In this regard, RHU requires qualified person to fill the following position for a period ending December 2012


Post: Accountant (1 Post)

Duty Station: RHU Headquarters, Kampala

Reports to: Director of Finance

Job Role: Coordinate, manage and advise management on matters pertaining to finances of the Association

Key Responsibilities
• Coordinate and prepare the financial components of planning and reporting documents of RHU in line with donor requirements
• Control and monitor expenditures vis a vis approved budgets
• Facilitate the external auditing exercise
• Carry out routine audit and support supervision to ensure compliance to RHU’s financial management procedures
• Ensure accurate records of the Association’s cash and bank transactions
• Monitor the Association’s local income and their projections and guide management on expenditures
• Build capacity of staff under your charge in financial management
• Perform any other professional duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.

Required Competences
• Ability to prepare budgets and financial reports in line with donor recommended formats
• Ability to extract monthly trial balances and prepare bank reconciliations
• Monitor budgets/incomes with expenditure returns and advise budget holders
• Prepare draft accounts
• Prepare audit requirements according to IPPF and other donors’ requirements
• Advise management on response to audit/management letter
• Training and supervisory skills

Qualifications and Experience
A degree in Commerce majoring in Accounting, or at least level III of ACCA, CPA, CIMA
Not less than five years in the field of Accounting.

Experience working in national and international NGOs, implementing several projects will be an added advantage
