Build Africa Uganda (BAU) has operated in Uganda since 1996 and currently works in Kumi, Bukedea, Ngora, Masindi, Buliisa and Kiryandongo districts with its head office in Kampala and two field offices in Kumi and Masindi. BAU is seeking to recruit an experienced and motivated individual as Area Programme Manager (ARM) for its Kumi field office.

Job Profile: This post is accountable for the quality of field programmes at Build Africa Uganda (BAU). The job-holder will be expected to continually observe the day-to-day effectiveness of pro¬gramme delivery, noting and reporting any areas where improvements are possible and making sure progress is made. The post will also contribute to the development and implementation of BA's strategic plan and will lead programme and project design initiatives at the field level. As a mem¬ber of BAU's senior management team, the post holder will play a key role in the overall leadership and direction at BAU, acting as a role model to staff.


Job requirement

Person Specifications: Minimum of a relevant master's degree from a recognized University with at least 5 years demonstrated experience in implementing development projects. Experience working with an international NGO, implementing education, enterprise, child protection, HIV/AIDS and Gender programs, an added advantage. Experience of developing, maintaining and overseeing project design, monitoring and evaluation frameworks and KPIs is also required. Should be comfortable working in an environment that espouses thinking outside the box, constantly questioning the status quo and continuously improving programs. Should be very strong in line management, demonstrating a supportive approach, an emphasis on developing all staff to their full capacity and being prepared to address poor performance. A person of high integrity that will model BAU's core values.

Competences: Practical hands-on field background; Good communication skills; Participatory Rural Appraisal skills a must; Good report writing and computer skills; Good training skills; A good team player; Creativity and innovation; Ability to work with minimum supervision.
