The successful candidate will be innovative, creative and eager to listen and learn. She/He will have exceptional leadership qualities with high level of acumen to manage risk-based audits and ability to interact and communicate effectively with all levels of personnel, partners and organisations. The successful candidate must be ready and willing to travel extensively to the field with at least 50% of his/her time outside Kampala. Reporting to the Country Director, his/her main responsibilities will be to:
Key Result Areas:
• Provide assurance to management about risk management processes
• Conduct enterprise wide risk based audits
• Perform special assignments, i.e. investigations, and performance audits
• Support management in assessing enterprise wide risks annually
• Assist the organization in evaluating effectiveness of risk mitigation strategies, and designing adequate internal controls to enable accountability
• Effectively plan and document audits using quality audit plans, and programmes
• Participate in coordination of outsourced audit activities including external audits

Job requirement

Essential Skills and Competencies:
• Certified internal auditor (CIA)
• CPA/ACCA/QICA qualifications or degree in a relevant discipline is essential but is not a prerequisite
• Experience and skills in auditing of community based development organizations & grant funded projects
• A minimum of 5 years working experience in a similar position in a reputable institution, preferably an NGO
• Demonstrated high degree of confidentiality with ability to work with minimum supervision
• Ability to develop and maintain strong and positive interpersonal relationships
• Experience of working in teams plus strategic planning and analytical skills.
• Familiarity and interest in children's issues
• Good computer skills with ability to work with spreadsheets and MS Access
• Valid driving permit with clean driving record
