UGANDA COFEE DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY LATEST JOB VACANCY IN UGANDA : RECRUITMENT FOR information technology officer (VACANCIES IN UGANDA 2011)

The Uganda Coffee Development Authority (UCDA) was established by statutory mandate in 1991 following the liberalization of the coffee industry. The Statute mandates UCDA to: "oversee the coffee industry by supporting research, promoting production, controlling the quality and improving the marketing of coffee in order to optimise foreign exchange earnings for the country and payments to farmers". In order to fulfill its mandate, UCDA wishes to recruit self-motivated and committed persons to fill the following positions;
1. INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY OFFICER -1 vacancy

Department: Strategy and Business Development
Reports to: Strategy and Business Development Manager
Job summary: To provide technical input and advice on IT issues to UCDA in line with modem ICT standards and procedures

Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Review and update the UCDA ICT policy and advise Management on policy improvements
2. Prepare budgets and procurement plans for the purchase of ICT equipment, software applications and related insurance
3. Monitor the security and integrity of the network and perform data backup and restoration
4. Introduce and integrate new technologies into existing data center environments
5. Install and configure computer equipment, software as and when required, and service computers and their accessories on a quarterly basis
6. Update and maintain the UCDA website in line with established IT procedures and guidelines
7. Maintain an up-to-date register of ICT equipment, software, licenses and other types of documentation
8. Troubleshoot any reported problems and provide technical advice to users
9. Ensure that access rights of Users are complied with and update User account information and passwords

Job requirement

Minimum Requirements:
The successful applicant must have:
1. A bachelor's degree (hons) in Information Technology or Computer Science.
2. At least 3 years' working experience in a similar position.
3. Teamwork, troubleshooting and problem solving skills.
4. Personal initiative.
