UHMG LATEST JOB VACANCIES IN UGANDA: RECRUITMENT FOR 2 POSITIONS

POSITION : BRAND OFFICERS - 2 POSITIONS
DUTY STATION : HEAD OFFICE - KAMPALA REPORTS TO : BRAND MANAGER
Job Summary:
The primary responsibility of this position is build the brand name for the new products under the DFID-funded project, while .continuing to strengthen the existing brands, and manage the profitability, sales and market share of the UHMG product brands.
The job holder works closely with the Communications team, and the Sales and Distribution team to ensure that all brand strategies and planned field activity for the brands are implemented as per plan in order to achieve the set targets of profitability sales and market share. The Brand Officer leads the development of a brand including identification of the product, developing the marketing as well as launch implementation plan. To implement the activities indicated in the plan, the Brand Officer works with team members from across UHMG's commercial and programs divisions. This team ensures that all activities required for developing and maintaining the brands' market position, including achievement of sales, distribution, profitability and market share targets are completed as per plan.
This position requires a self-driven person with strong marketing, communication, leadership and advocacy skills, and should have the capacity to work with minimum supervision, while upholding the Core Values of UHMG.
Essential Job Functions:
The Brands Officer will be specifically responsible for the following tasks:-
1. Contribute towards the development of brand strategies for existing and new UHMG brands.
1. Achieve the brand targets including profitability, sales, targets, brand market share (if applicable), awareness and usage, and distribution/availability.
2. Prepare the brand marketing plan and associated budgets, including:
• Communication objectives, positioning strategy and
• Distribution objectives and strategy o Annual sales targets, broken down in to monthly, quarterly, and regional targets
• Detailed promotion plans
3. Develop a detailed operating/implementation plan for each brand based on the brand marketing plan and established
5. Communicate the specific tasks and outputs from the operating plan to relevant team members; manage and monitor progress toward completion of all tasks and achievement of major activities.
6. Communicate details of and changes to the brand marketing strategy to the field implementing teams; prepare detailed plans for monthly implementation of field activities and communicate it to the field teams.
7. Ensure that field teams have the resources (financial and promotional materials) needed to implement the plans.
8. Prepare for and participate in weekly and monthly meetings with the Communications team and the Sales and Distribution team, and other field implementation teams (programs division).
9. Liaise with procurement and logistics to ensure that there are no product stock outs.
10. Initiate market research needed to address problems, challenges, or opportunities, or to understand why brand objectives are not being met.
11. Responsible for directing/guiding advertising agencies to support the design and development of promotional materials for each the brands.
12. Responsible for collecting market intelligence on competition that have direct impact on the brands' performance including

• Competitor brands' strategies, prices, and promotion
• Collecting feedback from customers on performance of UHMG brands
• Responsible for developing appropriate and timely responses to market feedback
8. Identify new business opportunities for brand growth.
9. Inform the sales team and other field implementing teams on the products and the brand strategies.
10. Launch activities for new brands.
11. Carry out regular monitoring and reporting on brand performance, specifically:
• Receive and review sales reports on a weekly and monthly basis, by region; compare actual sales with targets.
• Work with sales team to identify field challenges that deter achievement of targets and initiate appropriate and timely action to address problems, o Prepare a monthly report on the progress of the brand including sales, expenses, promotions carried out during the month, competitor information, new business opportunities, and plan for the subsequent month.
17 Undertake any other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the supervisor.
Key Linkages:
• Closely works with the Head of Communications and Social Marketing to ensure implementation of brands' strategies according to plan.
• Closely works with the programs division to Identify opportunities of demand creation for the brands.

Job requirement

Minimum Requirements:
Bachelors Degree in Business Administration, Commerce, Marketing, Mass Communication. Post Graduate qualifications and Masters Degree in Marketing, Business Administration, CIM, or their equivalent in related fields is an added advantage. Computer Literacy is essential. At least 2 years experience in managing brands, especially in product introduction, development, and growth. Excellent verbal and written communication ability. Good managerial and organizational abilities. Good people skills for dealing with both corporate management and with the larger community. Demonstrated ability to coordinate efforts of various teams to present a coherent message. Should be a person of integrity, energetic, dynamic team player, and portray innovation. Must be comfortable with public speaking, talking to potential donors and making requests for donations. Computer literacy with knowledge of MS Excel, Word, Power Point, and Outlook. Able to work under pressure with competing deadlines. Able to work with a multi-cultural team within the organization.
