AFRICARE LATEST JOB VACANCIES IN UGANDA: RECRUITMENT FOR TECHNICAL ADVISOR ( VACANCIES IN UGANDA 2011)

Africare, a private, non-profit organization, dedicated to improving the quality of life in rural Africa, supports programs in health, WASH, agriculture and Food Security, vocational education and OVC interventions in Uganda. Africare is looking for a dynamic, committed Ugandan national experienced in establishing local
government, national or community development systems for efficient implementation of activities to support implementation of an ongoing project as Technical Advisor, Community Development. The position requires good understanding of the current development trends and strategic issues in Uganda, in OVC.


Duty Station - Fort Portal
To provide Technical support in social development issues affecting social protection for vulnerable Children offering quality of technical training services and guidance to CBSDs and MGLSD.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
In accordance with Africare policies and procedures and in line with terms of donor grants to Africare, the Officer shall: Provide support and work with western region Technical Support for Orphans and other Vulnerable Children service providers (TSO) program partner organizations in order to fulfill agreed identified quality standards; Take lead in enhancing the capac¬ity of OVC stake holders i.e. District, CSOs and community partners for effective strategic planning, community mapping, providing TSO Technical Assistance to Program/Project staff, partners and collaborators in Project Cycle management processes including Design, Planning, Execution, Monitoring and Evaluation, Completion and Phase out; Participate in the analysis and reporting schedules and initiate timely appro¬priate reports to the PM for further action and submission; Assist in determining the basic care package for orphans and vulnerable children and their care givers in collaboration with the district AIDS Committee, District Health teams.-artd other multisectoral stakeholders.; Promote awareness and" sustain- ability of Project activities among community members. Work with project staff to document best practices in communities
ACCOUNTABILITY:
Supervision: Work independently but in consultation with the Program Manager.
Decision Making: Responsible for strategy and implementation of relevant activities.
Reports to - Program Manager
Responsibility over Community Development: Technically advise on TSO Community Issues

Job requirement

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATION: Post Graduate degree in Social Sciences, Development studies or Public Health.
RELEVANT EXPERIENCE:
Proven technical experience in Project Development and Capacity Building
Experience in implementation of Community Programs with International NGOs or Uganda local government is desirable. At least 7 years of continuous work with OVC community devel¬opment systems.
KEY SKILLS:
Good communication and interpersonal skills; Good analytical skills; Practical computer skills, including proficiency in MS Word, PowerPoint.
PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES:
Mature character, able to work for long hours and with extensive travel within project area. S/he should have initiative, empathy and passion for children and should be a team player
