Comic Relief Project
TAO UK in partnership with Kulika Uganda with funding from Comic Relief has developed a project -Agri-enterprise in sunflower for women heads of families. The project will benefit women smallholder farmers, who have a commitment to transform their livelihoods through agricultural enterprise. The project will support 600
women who are female heads of families and depend on subsistence agriculture to produce quality sunflower, establish a market strategy and provide them with information on prices and trends. The project will also build the capacity of women to form and manage democratic and economically. The women will be supported to increase production through agricultural extension support.


Job Position Title: Market Information Officer/ Agri-Business Officer
No. Position: One Location: Pader Reports to: Project Manager Duration: 2 years
Job summary
i. Provide direction and leadership to the project team and ensure that all staff work as a team.
ii. Work with the project team to produce comprehensive field project quarterly, monthly work plans and budgets that- will contribute to the overall and specific objectives of the project
iii. Ensure the timely implementation, monitoring o{ project activities and budgets that
high levels of quality, accountability and transparency are maintained.
iv. Work with the Project Extension Workers to organize women farmer groups and strengthen their capacity to commercialize and market their produce.
v. Train women groups in the preparation of agriculture business plans and arrange for capacity building for the women in financial management and record keeping
vi. Work with Project Extension Workers to plan, monitor and link the farmer to seed produce consumers.
vii. Coordinate with Mukwano group of companies and Mount Meru ltd for maintaining stipulated quality standards and need-based revision of the quality standards as per market requirement.
viii. Be in charge of fulltime maintenance and smooth functioning of the marketing stores and the whole marketing process of the women's produce.
ix. Monitor and ensure minimum operational losses at different stages of seed production.
x. Monitor and ensure maximum utilization of the agriculture information centre.
xi. Work with project farmers to ensure quality agro-products delivered into the marketing chain

Job requirement

Qualification, experience and profile
• Degree in Marketing and a postgraduate diploma in agribusiness will be an added advantage.
• At least five years experience working with an NGO and the promotion of commodity value chain/agribusiness practice.
• Outstanding coordination skills with ability to manage multiple activities concurrently.
• Should have adequate knowledge of women groups and group dynamics
• Is experienced and interested in agribusiness, agric economics and agricultural extension.
• Is experienced and interested in agricultural extension
• Adequate knowledge of women groups and group dynamics
• Agricultural marketing skills will be an added advantage
• A quick, clear thinker who can summarize main points and write short clear messages in correct English
• Must have strong training, writing and verbal skills
Excellent ability to analyse information
• Time management in delivery of M & E reports is extremely essential
• Must have very strong communication skills with all sectors of the community and agencies
• Knowledge of Luo is a must
